It came to huge dismay by both Hollywood’s elite and the public to find out that the annual Met Gala had been postponed ahead of the pandemic.

However, for High Fashion Twitter (or better known as the Hf Twitter community), the show must go on. Taking matters into their own hands, a collective of eleven fashion-lovers from around the world have created their very own Met Gala on Twitter welcoming all “fashion enthusiasts from around the world to share and express their unique creative visions without real-world inhibitions.”

Ceasing to create “an online space where fantasy reigns supreme and impracticality does not exist,” the 2020 High Fashion Twitter Met Gala will ensure that all attendees have a fabulous time together.

Following the original Met Gala’s theme ‘About Time: Fashion and Duration‘, every guest has the chance to partake in an activity of their choice. At the moment, categories include ‘Photoset Creation’ showcasing the dream outfits you’d wear for the occasion, the ‘Brand Challenge’ which aims to put lesser-known brands in the forefront, ‘Illustration Expression’ which call upon illustrators who enjoy sketching fashion collections, and ‘Wardrobe Styling’ which pushes to promote sustainable fashion by encouraging guests to share outfits styled with clothes from their closets.

So, while we won’t be able to check out Rihanna‘s latest showstopping ensemble or the Olsen twins next iconic fashion moment in the IRL Met Gala – we still have this amazing event to look forward to. And who knows, we might even expect a surprise celebrity appearance if we’re lucky too!

In the meantime, stay tuned to the official Twitter account (@HFMetGala) for live updates and interesting fun facts on the fashion history behind the highly-celebrated occasion.
