They may be named after the British island of Bermuda that’s famed for being a luxurious vacation spot, but these longline shorts have long discarded their casual, summer-only status. This season, designers experimented with unconventional materials, shapes and prints, amping up the cool factor so that the shorts can be worn to every occasion. Natacha Ramsay-Levi went for a refined, utilitarian cargo-style variant at Chloé, while Coach’s roomy pastel-hued number, paired with a leather coat and shirt, had a fuss-free casual-cool vibe. Things were kept timeless and polished at Marc Jacobs with tailored double-breasted blazers and coordinating shorts, and CELINE went for a laid-back ’70s rock star vibe with heritage prints and a pussy bow—coupled with tousled hair and dark sunglasses for a devil-may-care feel. Over at Moschino, Jeremy Scott took a dramatic turn with biker jackets, shorts and accessories fully covered in prints of toile de Jouy meshed with anime characters.
