No longer meant for just polo matches or casual Fridays at the office, the polo shirt has evolved into a stylish staple in its own right. For cruise 2021, brands pushed the traditionally preppy number into cooler ground with intricate detailing and modern styling. While Sacai showed a supersized number paired with an asymmetrical utilitarian skirt for an unexpected, offbeat look, Lee Mathews presented a three-quarter-sleeve version and teamed it with a pair of matching boy shorts and sandals—perfect for breezy weekends. Over at The Elder Statesman, ease and comfort reigned supreme, as evidenced in the long-sleeve polo dress matched with everyday sneakers and a bucket hat. Gucci, meanwhile, kept things classic but with a ’70s slant, and Versace took us on a wild ride with an animal-print option, worn off one shoulder and snugly cinched at the waist, teamed with a flared mini skirt.
