The one-piece is the workhorse equivalent of a summer dress. There’s something fresh, modern, comforting and empowering about it, and designers have continued to put out new iterations of the fuss-free staple season after season. For cruise 2021, Sacai went with a sleeveless, relaxed-fit jumpsuit in olive, and teamed it with sandals and a micro bag that got us feeling those carefree weekend vibes pronto. Ulla Johnson, meanwhile, gave the shorts version a chic upgrade by belting it and throwing on fancy extras that upped the polish and finesse, while fun-loving accessories lent a playful touch. Louis Vuitton went the way of sharp and structured with a tailored piece topped with a blazer and finished with boots for a hint of edge. Over at Valentino, things were kept elegant with a wide-legged bustier jumpsuit of perfect proportions, while Tod’s presented a more rugged, utilitarian take: Versatile denim coveralls that looked immediately finished when matched with tan add-ons.
