With more and more of us turning to the power of accessorising, thanks to Zoom calls and Houseparty nights in, simple styling tricks have never been so appealing. It is no surprise then that the bandana has seen a resurgence of late, first seen on the catwalks in February and now adopted by some of the most stylish folk on Instagram as they spend their days inside.

An elegant accessory (when done right), the bandana has come back into style time and time again over the years and has been worn by many of our favourite fashion icons, from Audrey Hepburn in the Sixties to Sex and the City's Carrie Bradshaw 30 years later. Flash forward to 2020 and a flurry of stylish people on our feeds are sporting them once again after they crept onto some of the most influential catwalks for autumn, that of Jacquemus and Gucci.

And, in many ways, the bandana is the perfect update for your at-home look, with minimal effort required - so if you've always wanted to give the accessory a go, there couldn't be a more perfect time.

Not sure where to start? Simply tie your silk scarf underneath your hairline at the back, either with your hair up or down, whichever you prefer – and then dress it up or keep it casual.

For something a little more statement-making, look to Bella Hadid, who teamed hers with a pair of chunky gold hoops.

Want to be more casual? Simply team with a crisp white shirt and a pair of denim jeans, as demonstrated by Bazaar's very own fashion editor Rosie Arkell-Palmer.

Alternatively, styling around one colour is another great way to make your outfit look pulled-together. Take style cues from Copenhagen-based model Emilia Silberg, who matched her bandana with a bright blue button-up jacket and chic gold jewellery.
