Update, 10/2: Senior management at Céline has assured employees that the creative director Phoebe Philo is not preparing to leave, stating that the company and the designer "are more motivated and committed than ever to their partnership and will continue to create beautiful products".

Rumours began circulating last week suggesting that Philo was planning to announce her exit from the brand after eight years at the helm. An internal memo sent around the company acknowledged that these reports were based on "rumours, not truths", according to WWD.

Since joining the LVMH-owned Céline in 2008, Philo has been credited with transforming the once-tired fashion house into one of the most coveted and respected (not to mention imitated) labels in the world, celebrated for its elegant, minimalist designs that women – and fashion editors – worldwide want to wear.

Neither Philo, Céline or LVMH have commented publicly on the rumours.

Original post, 5/2: The rumours going around in Paris this past week suggest that designer Phoebe Philo may be leaving her post at fashion label Céline after the presentation of its fall/winter 2016 show.

The Fashion Law reports that the hugely influential designer may be headed to the Richemont group, which owns fashion labels Chloé, Azzedine Alaïa and Cartier, and will take up a position at Alaïa.

Whether this is true still remains to be seen, but Céline will not be the same without the visionary who transformed it into one of the most snapped and coveted brands in the world.
