It’s a walk off! Eleven years after they brought us one of the most quotable movies of all time, Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson have announced the return of Zoolander 2 in the most epic way possible.
The comedic duo delighted show-goers at the Maison Valentino show in Paris when they hit the runway for the show’s finale, to the tune of Human League’s Don’t You Want Me.
The runway appearance officially confirmed the long-standing rumours of a Zoolander sequel, with Stiller following up his runway appearance with an Instagram post stating, “Apparently Derek and Hansel have come to terms on #Zoolander 2.”
Stiller, Wilson and Will Ferrell (as the amazing Mugato) are all confirmed for the sequel, with Penelope Cruz reportedly also signed on. Justin Theroux, who worked with Stiller on his 2008 comedy Tropic Thunder, wrote the script for the new flick. It’s slated for release in February 2016.
As for plotline, it’s all still very hush-hush, but in in a 2010 interview with MTV, Stiller hinted that the sequel would see Derek and Hansel trying to find their way back into the spotlight.
“In the fashion world, if you go away for a year, it’s changed — it just happens so quickly. I think the idea in the beginning of the movie is that it’s 10 years later, and Derek and Hansel are literally forgotten. Nobody remembers who they are, so they have to reinvent themselves.”
If you couldn’t tell already, we could not be more excited.
