Inspired by Smith's favourite NB models, the new iteration is made using sustainable materials
New Balance unveils NB for Jaden Smith Vision Racer, a new footwear silhouette conceptualised, designed and developed by the American rapper in collaboration with the American sportswear brand.
Taking inspiration from the X-Racer and 1700 models—Smith's favourites—the contemporary rendition of the Vision Racer is an amalgamation of Smith's gender-bending avant-garde aesthetics and the brand's sporty classics.

In recent years, Smith has become increasingly vocal about climate change and the need for more sustainable methods of production and consumption of goods, so it comes as no surprise that the Vision Racer is also made using sustainable materials and vegan-friendly—an initiative that New Balance has always undertaken albeit gradually.
Some highlights of the sustainable materials used to create the footwear include: EVA regrind (negates potential waste streams), partially-recycled insole and recycled polyester.

Other interesting features of the shoes include reflective details on the tongue webbing, N logo and upper piping making for enhanced visibility come nighttime; a rubberised tip for increased durability and support (especially for those leading high-intensity lives and need the most out of their footwear).
The NB for Jaden Smith Vision Racer launches globally on 24 July 2020 on their website and on Footlocker.sg at $209. Only available in Wavy Baby Blue, but with more colour ways released throughout 2020. It will retail for $209.
