- Kanye West and Gap announced a new 10-year partnership on Friday, per The New York Times.

- The hip-hop mogul and the classic American brand will launch a new line dubbed Yeezy Gap in stores and online starting next year.

- The line is set to be a collection of "modern, elevated basics for men, women and kids at accessible price points.”

“Let's go back, back to the Gap.”

Kanye West is bringing a new iteration of his renowned Yeezy line to Gap stores starting in 2021, the brand announced today. West reportedly signed a 10-year deal with the retailer, which has struggled to retain relevancy in recent years within an increasingly oversaturated fashion market, according to The New York Times.

The line, bluntly dubbed Yeezy Gap, is set to be a collection of "modern, elevated basics for men, women and kids at accessible price points" while still retaining Wests's signature "design vision." Though Gap hasn't maintained the cultural relevancy it had in its heyday decades ago, a collaboration with the hip-hop and fashion mogul makes sense. West has homed in on the concept of luxury basics with Yeezy throughout the years without sacrificing sartorial experimentation. His imaginative takes on wardrobe staples such as classic tees, hoodies, jackets, and more could provide the Gap the desperate reiteration it needs. The collaboration also marks a homecoming of sorts for West, who worked at a Chicago location of the popular store when he was a teenager.

“We are excited to welcome Kanye back to the Gap family as a creative visionary, building on the aesthetic and success of his YEEZY brand and together defining a next-level retail partnership,” read a statement from Mark Breitbard, global head of Gap Brand, in a press release.

West made a rare social media appearance on Twitter today to announce the news, simply writing, "YEEZY AND GAP FORM PARTNERSHIP #WESTDAYEVER," alongside a potential working logo from the upcoming partnership.

The rapper also posted what seems to be concept art from the upcoming line, featuring a model donning a colour-blocked puffer jacket, khakis, and an oversized canvas tote bag.
