As a long-standing fan of Giambattista Valli, Kendall Jenner was, of course, the first to wear the brand's anticipated high-street collection for H&M. She debuted a frothy pink tulle gown from the collaboration at the amfAR Gala back in May, amplifying our excitement for the full offering.

So, given her credentials as one of Valli's key muses, she's well-placed to offer her thoughts on the collection itself. Unsurprisingly, her review is glowingly positive.

"I love the dramatic yet accessible silhouettes; they make me feel powerful and effortless, which is what being fabulous is all about, in my opinion," she told us. "It’s also the personal touches throughout the collection that make me really connect to the pieces. It’s like wearing a little piece of Giamba himself."

The brand is known for its romantic, extravagant and voluminous creations covered in ruffles and embroidery, made using the most luxurious of fabrics, be it chiffon, silk or tulle. How this level of opulence will translate for the high street has been much debated since news of the collaboration was announced, but Jenner insists fans will not be disappointed.

"It’s all so beautiful. The level of detail is incredible, which is very Giambattista Valli, but there’ s also this wonderful high-low mix of pieces that includes embellished sweatshirts and really fun jewellery," she says. "And it’s going to be so amazing to see all these people around the world wearing the collection. I love the idea that the Valli universe is expanding and joining forces with H&M."

Jenner counts the red tulle dress that she wears in the campaign video as her favourite piece, although the leather trousers and handbags also scored highly. She's already planned how she might style each piece.

"The red tulle dress I would wear with my favourite pair of heels, but could also do some flat boots," she says. "The red leather trousers would be perfect with a vintage T-shirt and some sneakers. And, as for the handbags, they could go with anything really."

The campaign was shot in Valli's hometown of Rome where the designer took Jenner and her advert co-stars, H.E.R and Cameron Monagha, for a tour of the city's non-touristy highlights. "He had all these amazing recommendations of places to eat or visit," recalled Jenner. "It’s always fun to have an insider’s point of view of a city, so we all had a great time."

For Jenner, what she admires most about her friend is his "creativity and humanity", signatures of his aesthetic, and the way his designs make her feel.

"When you see his clothes and then get to wear them, it really has an effect on you but at the same time, you totally feel like yourself," she says. "That’s a special skill and a gift to the rest of us."

Giambattista Valli x H&M launches on 7 November.
