Haute Couture is the fashion world’s way of playing dress up. Two times a year, select houses (mostly French), are given the honor of producing these extravagant shows. These are the gowns and garments that are created over hundreds of hours, combining exquisite craftsmanship with pure creativity. This season, not only were sparkly gems and layers upon layers of frothy tulle the most popular players on the runways, lilac proved to be the color du jour, showing up at Giorgio Armani, Elie Saab, and Zuhair Murad. It might not be the easiest shade to pull off in real life, but it is the color of royalty, and is a nice refreshment to the nudes and white hues that have dominated the runway previously. We’re counting on seeing more than one lilac number on upcoming red carpets this year.
