Working Girl: A Closer Look At Louis Vuitton Fall/Winter 2022
Trust Nicolas Ghesquiere to bring together prom queens and power suits.
The Louis Vuitton fall/winter 2022 collection took unexpected twists and turns down memory lane. Some of Nicolas Ghesquiere’s most delightful riffs on nostalgia include bold-shouldered suits straight out of the Eighties, and printed ties last seen in your granddad’s closet. The collection was also a celebration of adolescence—that sweet period of time defined by fluidity and freedom before societal conventions kick in. This was expressed through playful pieces such as bubblegum-pink tulle dresses, mini-crini skirts and tweed pinafores. One standout were the floral jumpers plastered with David Sims’ Nineties portraits of teenagers—like high-fashion versions of bedroom posters and concert merch.
