Lupita Nyong'o, Riley Keough And Parisienne Pink At CHANEL Fall 2023 Couture
Yellow brick road, but make it pink.
Yellow brick road, but make it pink. The vision Chanel presented for its Fall/Winter 2023/24 couture show was one of delicate elegance, capturing the spirit of your imagination when it comes to envisioning a modern Parisian fashionista strolling down the Champs d'Elysses on a Tuesday afternoon. Equal parts sensitive and bold, black and hues of pink dominated the colour palette, painting a charming picture along the Seine River. Long overcoats, liberal use of chiffon and, of course, golden tweed were all hallmarks of the collection, as creative director Virginie Viard continues her quest to reimagine house codes on her own terms.
The array of fabrics and textures used throughout alludes to the diverse intellectual interests and inspirations which drive the modern everyday woman, who does more than sit around and admire pretty things; only the finest of literature, films and fashion stand a chance to impress her. Graphic floral motifs and finely-detailed stitching in an assortment of organza and inlaid lace reflect this affinity for both excellence and elegance. And in an homage to the world around her, beautifully encapsulated in the fine arts and atmosphere of Paris, little accessories and ornaments such as the classic Parisienne wicker basket and adorable two-tone Mary Jane shoes channel the creative energy which weaves its way through the city via the river and fuels the artisans who walk alongside it each and every day.
