As one of the co-chairs of the 2023 Met Gala, Dua Lipa's outfit was destined to bring the house down.

Tonight, the pop star appeared on the carpeted steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in a 1992 white tweed ball gown by Chanel with a flattering basque waist, woven black trim, and a fringe hem (the piece was originally worn by Claudia Schiffer!).

Lipa also dripped in diamonds from Tiffany & Co. She is now the first person to ever wear the legendary Lucida Star Necklace (which is reportedly worth more than $10 million) reset with a diamond that mirrors the proportions of the world renown Tiffany Diamond, one of the largest yellow diamonds in the world. The piece alone features over 100 carats brilliant cut white diamonds.

This year marks the singer's second time at the Met Gala. She last attended the event back in 2019, when she embraced that year's "camp" theme in a vibrant Atelier Versace creation. The psychedelic dress featured a vibrant purple, mint blue, and neon green pattern all over the intricate bust, peplum bow skirt, and train.

Tonight's theme, "Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty," pays homage to the life and legacy of the late Chanel creative director.

The Costume Institute describes the spring 2023 exhibition as an exploration of "the work of Karl Lagerfeld. Focusing on the designer’s stylistic vocabulary as expressed in aesthetic themes that appear time and again in his fashions from the 1950s to his final collection in 2019, the show will spotlight the German-born designer’s unique working methodology."

The exhibition will additionally showcase about 150 of Lagerfeld's designs, as well as some of his sketches, both of which "underscore his complex creative process and the collaborative relationships with his premières, or head seamstresses. Lagerfeld’s fluid lines united his designs for Balmain, Patou, Chloé, Fendi, Chanel, and his eponymous label, Karl Lagerfeld, creating a diverse and prolific body of work unparalleled in the history of fashion."

Lipa previously talked to BAZAAR.com about the key role that fashion plays in her life.

"I've always loved dressing up," she said. "I like it when things look like you've just thrown them on and sometimes the things you really do just throw on look the best. I've always been inspired by the '90s, and I like wearing baggy trousers, and blazers with slip dresses and thigh-high boots or leather jackets, and just a mixture of all those together."
