Milan Fashion Week: 10 Best Looks From Marni Fall/ Winter 2020

A grandiose print and patchwork takeover

Maximalism is the name of the game at Marni, and this season didn’t disappoint. Blocks of color and print nestled up against each other with wild abandon, and for every monochromatic version there was a riot of hue and pattern. The most fun pieces appeared straight from art school, with Frankenstein stitches holding patchwork pieces together; unexpected materials like discs of molten metal in the mix; and flashes of fabric that looked to be from the cutting room floor of a master upholsterer. A very good case for statement outerwear was also made, with ankle-grazing coats in any manner of prints and colors. And just in case showgoers weren’t having a thoroughly raucous ride, there was Creative Director Francesco Risso‘s finale lap—dressed in black-and-white stripes and a plush rabbit head.
