Milan Fashion Week: 10 Best Looks From Tod's Fall 2016

All the best looks from MFW FW16

To celebrate the Tod's leather artisan, Vanessa Beecroft posed a sprawl of models—Karlie Kloss at its centre—on a large wooden table at PAC, Milan's contemporary art museum. Each girl was wearing some kind of hand-stitched leather in honour of Tod's long tradition of Made in Italy craftsmanship. Fortunately, it didn't detract from Alessandra Facchinetti's collection.

The clothes were as much a celebration of Tod's leather traditions as was Beecroft's installation. There were the drivers and moccasins that sell, as well as boxy and less-structured bags of every size. Each was detailed with tassels, charms, jewelry, chains and cubes.

Plaids and checks were a big part of the collection—either worked in as cross-hatch leather strips or printed. Cropped strait suits looked mannish but were softened with a touch of fur or by colour.

While leather is obviously Tod's star, don't discount the knits. Here, they came out louche, cool and smartly catering to a slightly younger customer than is currently shopping there. While some of the tassels were at time overkill, the oversized proportions on graphic sweaters, especially paired back to something slick and leather, looked right on point.

But if leather is your thing, there is no shortage of options here. Moto pants came up graphic, skirts had more movement with pleats and kilt-like shapes, bronze popped up as a strappy dress with a plaid stitched motif (not as successful here), and the camel trench saw new life with red and white stitches and matching booties.
