Singapore's Most Stylish Women 2015: Elaine Lim-Chan

From strengths to insecurities, sartorial treasures to sentimental heirlooms, this year’s modern muses reveal what lies beneath that polished surface, and their hopes to inspire and do good

ELAINE LIM-CHAN

Managing Director of Deutsche Bank Singapore, fashion chameleon, dog lover

Harper's BAZAAR Singapore: How would you describe your sense of style?

Elaine Lim-Chan: Sophisticated, adventurous, and experimental. I have a soft spot for feminine designs with a dash of daring. To me, fashion is a tool to express myself, an outlet for my creative side and to have fun with,

since my job in the financial sector does not allow me to go too wild.

HB: How has your personal style evolved over the years?

EL: With time, I find myself daring to try; exploring options I’d never consider before—that probably comes with age and confidence.

HB: What are your fashion “security blankets”?

EL: A pair of killer stilettos—my personal favourites are anything by Charlotte Olympia or Christian Louboutin; and my trusty Victoria Beckham shades.

HB: What do you like most about yourself?

EL: My self-confidence. It’s not about what you wear, it’s about how you carry yourself. The clothes are never as important as the wearer. When I walk into a room, I hope I am the first thing people see, not my clothes.

HB: What is girl power today?

EL: My life philosophy is: Work hard, play hard. Be yourself, believe in yourself and be confident.

I hope that I can be an inspiration to young women by being an example. I am the president of the

Ferrari Owners’ Club Singapore—the world’s first and only female president—which goes to show

that women can do anything they set their minds to, even in a sport dominated by men.
