How has your style evolved?

I used to be really daring, and I only wore colour, prints and complicated clothing—the kind you almost need instructions to put on. I admit being a sucker for trends because I genuinely just love trying new things. Now that I am a mum, however, I have to dress down and for comfort, and it has been quietly killing me for a year now. I’m a maximalist at heart and will need to change back soon before I explode.

What is your first memory of fashion?

I come from a family of shoppers. I remember spending a lot of my youth at Joyce boutique by Lane Crawford in Hong Kong, where my mother would be shopping for hours and I’d be sitting in a corner just drawing on notepads they provided. I also remember the first thing I wanted from my mum was a Louis Vuitton bag when I was five. I still have it now, I just need to find it!

What brands do you love?

I am obsessed with J.W. Anderson, and I am a huge fan of Chitose Abe’s Sacai. I have a whole lot of items from her; she basically bankrupts me. I also love Toga and Undercover; these Japanese brands are stylish but mum life-friendly at the same time.

Is there something you’d never wear?

Thigh-high boots, perspex shoes, and the underwear-as-outerwear trend. And you would never catch me in a bodycon bandage dress or cork wedges, ever!

What’s on your wish list?

Almost everything from the new Balenciaga collection—I really like their fresh, ironic direction; the J.W. Anderson Pierce bag with what looks like a nose ring closure—no reason for it, I just want it; and a jacket from The North Face x Sacai collection—I won’t be able to wear it in Singapore, but I still want one.
