How does Alexander Wang celebrate Valentine's Day? With some cannabis, provocatively placed sensor bars and a grungy-punk attitude. No, the girls weren't smoking weed—not that we know of, at least—but the leaves were worked on wrap skirts and soft pink costs, played against sheer t-shirts and studded accessories.
As much skin as the Wang squad showed, there is always an underlying current of tomboyishness. Whether in the punk plaids, oversized grandpa cardigans or oversized sweaters laced with chain.
Here, grunge came up to 2016 speed via beautiful long liquid dresses in—can we say it—elegant prints or boudoir-ish tops and shorts embellished with lace and cannabis leaves that looked delicate from afar.
Wang mixed his heavier layers with a sense of youthful cheekiness. A pole dancing intarsia and several clunky-cool cardis walked alongside a classic jean jacket lined with animal-printed shearling or a leather dress coat in black and white stripes.
As flashy as the collection was, as buzzy as the accessories hats, shoes, bags and hosiery were, Wang didn't ignore clothes that less party people would wear. Strip away the sheer t-shirts saying 'strict' and you're left with pieces like charming sweaters with metallic diamonds or pink and black striped gowns with street attitude.
