"Eclectic, glamorous and optimistic", was how Michael Kors described his Fall/Winter 2019 collection about two hours before guests were treated a visual feast of models decked out in sequins, feathers, and leather beneath disco balls and chandeliers at Cipriani Wall Street. The collection was a celebration of the glamour and energy he experienced at Studio 54 in the seventies, a melting pot of dance, theatre and fashion—what New York City embodies. As the models took their final walk, the velvet curtains opened to reveal a surprise: Barry Manilow performing Copacabana. Models with the likes of Karen Elson, Bella Hadid and Liu Wen danced along to the infamous disco tune as Michael Kors took his bow alongside Patti Hansen.
