Chanel Will Stop Using Exotic Animal Skins And Fur

Chanel has announced that it plans to stop using exotic animal skins in all future collections. The house stated that it was struggling to source those which met their ethical and quality standards, WWD reports.
The exotic skins which will be banned include crocodile, lizard, snake, stingray and also fur.

Bruno Pavlovsky, the president of Chanel fashion, said in an interview that the house was struggling to source skins which met their ethical and quality standards.
"The future of high-end products will come from the know-how of what our atelier is able to do," Pavlovsky said ahead of the house's Metiers d'Art show in New York this evening, where this will be showcased.
Although Chanel will no longer use exotic skins and fur in future collections, it will take some time for products that include them to work their way out of boutique distribution.
The house is the latest fashion brand to adopt a fur-free policy, joining the likes of Gucci, Versace, Burberry, Armani, Ralph Lauren, Michael Kors, Vivienne Westwood and Stella McCartney.
