On 13 November 2025, Universal Studios Singapore transformed into the magical world of Oz for the Wicked: For Good premiere. Flying into our city was the star-studded cast consisting of Cynthia Erivo, Ariana Grande, Michelle Yeoh and Jeff Goldblum, to name a few. And if there’s one thing this cast is known for besides their on-screen magic, it is their press tour looks.

You can always rely on the one and only Erivo to serve a good look on the red carpet—one that is not just as magical as her character Elphaba but also one that is intentional. Her red-carpet outfits honour her iconic character and tell the story of Erivo herself.

In an exclusive peek behind the scenes, Erivo and her talented glam trio—stylist Jason Bolden, makeup artist Joanna Simkin and nail artist Shea Osei, walk us through her enchanting look for the Wicked: For Good premiere in Singapore.

How did you incorporate Elphaba into your look for the Wicked: For Good premiere in Singapore?

We have been leaning into Elphaba’s maturity, her sensuality, her femininity; and how it manifests itself in my sense of fashion and style. This Vivienne Westwood is a prime example of that, we have accentuated the curve of the body and subtly revealed a little part of it.

What are some elements you love to include in your red-carpet looks?

This run is all about texture and structure. The colour palette is consistent and we are playing within the confines of that. I love the danger in this, how risqué it is.

How do you feel in your look for the Singapore premiere?

I feel sexy in it, beautiful even. Though it leans into Elphaba’s vocabulary, it is very much my language, my words; it’s very me.

Can you break down Cynthia’s outfit for the Wicked: For Good premiere in Singapore?

She wore custom Vivienne Westwood, archive Westwood boots and [Tiffany & Co.] jewels! We also decided to use every piece of fabric, even down to making her choker from extra fabric from the hem.

What was the vision behind her look?

We wanted to strip things down to great craftsmanship and luxe fabrics. No one does that like Westwood!

Are there any subtle details in her outfit for the Singapore premiere that you love but people might miss?

The exposed corseting.

Cynthia has had a string of incredible looks on the Wicked press tour. How do you and Cynthia incorporate Elphaba’s spirit into her red-carpet looks?

We add the edge and boldness that Elphaba carries through the film!

Can you tell us more about Cynthia’s makeup look for the premiere?

We were inspired by the Victorian coquette feel of her Vivienne Westwood gown. Pulling her blush up into her eye colour allowed us to maintain her signature overall tonal look, but with a beautiful rich burgundy.

Can you break down what was used in her makeup look?

For her base, we used Haus Labs Foundation, which settled beautifully in the humidity. Both the liquid blush (shade: Grace) and shimmer powder blush (shade: Truth) are from Rare Beauty, and they blend and pop so beautifully, respectively. For the lips, we used Haus Labs Le Monster Lip Crayon in Garnet to maintain the tones.

Are there any subtle nods to Elphaba you’re including in her look?

We are taking the opportunity this time to actively separate Elphaba from Cynthia, so while we are still leaning into overall tonal palettes, we’ve steered away from greens this time around.

Can you share any unexpected details or techniques used in her look?

In order to keep the overall look tonal, I layered a liquid blush on her cheekbone and into the crease of her eye, then topped the cheek with a shimmer blush and added that to the lid.

What was your inspiration behind Cynthia’s nail set for the premiere in Singapore?

I wanted to create a design that felt both magical and elegant. The flowing blue and black hand painted artwork is inspired by movement, energy, and transformation. This also flows readily well with her look for the premiere—timeless, detailed, and powerful from every angle.

Are there any unexpected details or techniques used in this set?

Absolutely. Each nail features freehand artwork that builds from layered strokes in varying shades of blue and black. This gives the illusion of depth without relying on heavy embellishment.

I also blended subtle blue cat eye metallic shimmer into the tips to create a gradient that catches the light beautifully on camera—a small detail, but one that elevates the entire look on a long set of nails like Cynthia’s.

Every element is hand painted, which means no two nails are identical. That intentional individuality is part of the art to compliment Cynthia’s unique presence and the fluidity of movement she brings to every red carpet.
