Denim Gets a Lush Makeover in Gucci’s Pre-Fall 2024 Collection

Trends come and go but denim is forever, at least when it comes to it being a mainstay across fashion collections, past, present and future. This season, for example, styling the humble fabric just got more fun thanks to Gucci’s creative director Sabato de Sarno’s Pre-Fall 2024 creations for the Italian fashion house. After all, making the ordinary extraordinary is part of the Gucci DNA. 

DAYTIME DISCO

It’s not difficult to indulge in the indigo fabric when it is doused in sparkle. A blue, long-sleeved washed denim jacket, for instance, is sprinkled all over with crystal embroidery, turning the casual staple into a statement piece in its own right. When worn with a dainty wool tank top and pencil midi skirt emblazoned with the GG details, however, the jacket can be worn even in the daytime. 

ONE OF THE BOYS

Case in point: a standout piece is a boxy, dark blue denim T-shirt dress—complete with pockets! The dress hails from the Gucci Lido capsule, inspired by the spirit of summer and beach clubs dotting the Italian coastline, and includes swimwear and raffia renditions of the house’s most popular handbag, the GG Marmont. Fun fact: the Signoria pumps are named after the stunning central piazza of Florence, and the shoe features a signature hand-stitched Gucci chain.

Translating to “light” in Italian, the small shoulder bag design in beige and ebony with a brown leather trim has a detachable and adjustable green and red strip web strap for you to style as you please. We love how the canvas and denim come together in this fashionable friendship.

WHITE HOT

For those who get the blues over dark denim, good news! The T-shirt dress comes in white GG jacquard denim, still very much entrenched in the house codes of contemporary meets vintage (which also happens to be fitting of the tenniscore trend this summer). This dress, featuring a pointed collar, dropped shoulders for a relaxed fit, and drawstring waist detail is perfectly paired with the reimagined Gucci Marmont shoulder bag in black leather and gold hardware. The addition of the side pockets puts a sporty-chic twist on the classic handbag staple and plays into the buttoned-down feel of the collection.

For those looking for a lighter-hued option, a long GG shadow bouclé jacket with GG detail on the buttons pairs well with a matching mini skirt.
