Dohyun Kim Is Harper’s BAZAAR Singapore’s October 2025 Cover Star
An issue tailor-made by tech.
October has always been fashion’s favourite season—the shows, the shifts, the craving for reinvention. But this year, it feels different. We’re calling this issue Tech-tober, because the conversation isn’t just about hemlines or handbags anymore. It’s about artificial intelligence, algorithms, diagnostics and the curious ways technology is reshaping how we dress, how we care for ourselves, and even how we imagine the future.
In fashion, Puma has already unveiled an AI-assisted sneaker, designed as much by code as by hand. At Dior and Ralph Lauren, digital stylists are no longer experiments but fixtures, offering instant suggestions with unnerving precision. Helpful, yes. But I can’t help thinking that the real beauty of a silhouette lies in the irregularity—a seam placed with instinct and years of training, a sketch smudged at midnight when an invigorating conversation ignited something magical. That spark isn’t something you can simply programme.

Take our cover this month. A beautiful image created in July in the ateliers of Boucheron at Place Vendôme. The incredible high jewellery thistle brooch worn like a sabre across the model’s jacketed torso. It’s a mix of classic and cutting edge. Here’s a diamond-encrusted jewel made to mimic nature as realistically as possible. BAZAAR took it a step further and engaged AI to help actualise the image with a fashion-forward take.
The result is a rainbow hoop encircling the model, like a DNA thread weaving the past, present and future altogether. In beauty, though, the shift feels seismic. Diagnostics have moved from in-store gimmicks to hyper-personalised journeys powered by AI. Revieve’s tools now read your selfie like a dermatologist, translating fine lines and uneven tones into tailored routines. Haut.AI goes further, with SkinGPT simulating how your face might age under stress, sun or lack of care. Imagine seeing not just what your skin looks like today, but what it could become tomorrow. It changes how you buy, use, and think about the effects of time on your skin.

And still, amidst all the sleek predictions and personalised dashboards, I find myself drawn to the human stories. The influencers who trade data streams for quiet escapes (see “Postcards from China”). Singers like Elijah Woods who sing with vulnerability and softness.
In the end, fashion, music and beauty aren’t about perfection. They’re about expression. About how we navigate a world that’s moving faster than ever, without losing the tenderness that makes us human.
