Ong Bee Yan Fashion For Cancer

Senior fashion model and entrepreneur Ong Bee Yan—who was also our April 2021 cover star—has witnessed her beloved family members and friends, including her son Chia Rong Liang (who is battling pancreatic cancer), struggle with cancer. Having seen the physical, mental, emotional and financial toll it took on them, Ong was inspired to "bring hope and positivity" to those in the same plight.

At the forefront of the grey revolution movement and empowering others to embrace ageing, Ong lives passionately by her motto: “It’s never too late to try something new”. Now, she has teamed up with local fashion industry players to raise $100,000 for the National Cancer Centre Singapore (NCCS) to aid cancer research and patient support through her Fashion For Cancer (FFC) project and its first-ever charity fashion show.

“For many of these survivors, walking the runway is a dream they’d never thought possible while fighting the disease that ravaged their body. This is an opportunity for them to celebrate their lives, to showcase their strength and resilience and finally shine on a stage that will bring hope and inspiration to those who are suffering from cancer. To show that they can overcome and there is joy, even in the darkest of moments, to keep fighting the good fight."

Happening on August 25, 6.30pm at Oceanus Media Global and limited to 100 guests, the FFC Charity Fashion Show will feature 16 cancer survivors from all walks of life on the runway, including Chia, Mediacorp actress Pan Ling Ling and Manhunt Singapore 2021/2022 first runner-up Arun Rosiah.
