PANGAIA—the science-forward, problem-solving loungewear brand behind the matching tracksuits worn by celebrities and the fashion set alike—is launching its first activewear range, just in time for our back-to-studio workouts.

While many sustainably minded activewear brands use recycled synthetic fibres, the PANGAIA GYM collection “harnesses the latest science and technology to deliver a range of products that use bio-based nylon and stretch yarns,” resulting in a collection predominantly made from renewable resources—including a 90 per cent bio-based nylon fabrication comprising renewable castor oil, seaweed fibre, Roica V550 (a stretch yarn which can be degraded by microorganisms into non-ecotoxic components), and bioWick made from microalgae. Its durable, odour-control finish is made from PPRMNT™, which is derived from the Mentha piperita plant.

The revolutionary new line includes bra tops, hoodies, jumpsuits, T-shirts and bike shorts in black, pink, lilac, grey, green and navy blue, with printed text detailing the means by which each garment was made.

The first tease of the collection references the nostalgic info-mercials of the ’80s, brought to life with a playful twist that flips the script on the portrayal of performance activewear. Fresh and amusing, the campaign clip continues the brand’s focus on the PANGAIA community, featuring a number of employees and focusing on inclusivity.

Following a year of accelerated growth thanks to the rise of loungewear amid the pandemic, the brand’s move into activewear “re-affirms the brand’s strategy of diversification into new lifestyle categories.”
