Moto and shearling are definitely having a moment. And at Carven, designers Adrien Caillaudaud and Alexis Martial smartly inflected touches of the sherpa and motocross rider into what was, essentially, a modern girl's wardrobe.
Shearling-lined suede coats and jackets felt like something out of the best '70s closets, and they were effortlessly styled into a lineup that had a vaguely Mod feeling thanks to A-line minis, cropped pants and some modern architectural wrapping and stacking.
While the overall story—the influence of travels to far-flung locales and then coming home—was always present, the designers kept things varied. As one would in a real wardrobe. The shearlings were followed by an A-line leopard coat, space knits that could double as outerwear and a pair of motorcycle jackets that, done in a brighter blue, landed on a ladylike note.
Carven brought back some of the eyelet details seen in seasons past. This time, it detailed the bodice and hem of a delicate pink suede mini dress (worn with a tonal turtleneck and clutch) and a schoolgirlish green velvet mini teamed with a camel v-neck. Both young and fresh.
A lightning print zipped across a zipped ski layer, its zig zag echoing the marble runway and backdrop. And the trippy prints continued with a set of hands dropping crystals against a sunset mountain top or a crystal intarsia sweater. Proving that hippies come in all shapes, forms and styles.
