Salvatore Ferragamo has officially confirmed the hire of Paul Andrew as its first-ever design director of women’s footwear, effective immediately.

“We are excited to welcome such a dynamic and established talent into the company,” Ferruccio Ferragamo, president of Salvatore Ferragamo, said in a statement. “We have a proud history of nurturing design talent and we believe that Paul’s credo very much matches the spirit at the heart of our house.”

Previously, Andrew has worked at Calvin Klein and Alexander McQueen before founding his eponymous shoe brand in 2013. Since then, the rising footwear designer has won both the CFDA Fashion Fund Award in 2014 and the CFDA Swarovski Award for Accessory Design this past June.

“Salvatore Ferragamo has been an iconic reference for shoe design and craftsmanship for nearly a century. It is a great honour to be invited to lead the creative vision for the future of its women’s shoe division, where the legend began,” Andrew said in an official statement.

Andrew’s debut collection for Salvatore Ferragamo will land next year for Pre-Fall 2017. Along with his new position at Ferragamo, the footwear designer will also continue designing for his namesake brand.
