A white top and a black skirt seem like pretty standard fare. But David Koma took them, plus some other now recognizably basic pieces like the bomber, LBD, sweatshirt and blazer, and snipped, moulded, zipped and slashed into something with that magnetism he has injected into Mugler.

The sexiness had purpose and smarts this time. It wasn't just non-stop body-con dressing. White piping trimmed a clear raincoat and mini-skirt, both worn over white bodysuits, which gave each look a formal construct. Meanwhile those same white lines add curvilinear oomph to black leggings, curves which were echoed in the folded panels and exaggerated sleeves of bomber jackets and scuba-like minis.

Koma picked up the bright colours of his resort collection, adding a few in here for brightness and to highlight such details as zippered openings in unexpected places.

Body con looks are not for everyone, and they can also start to feel like much-covered ground. Plus, if it's not done right, it can turn trashy very quickly. But Koma's confident hand brought fresh perspective to the clingy cluts, adding contrasting curving panels and sometimes just a hint of degrade-patterned shimmer trimming hips, busts and shoulders.

Done right, body con is sizzling. It has the power to send women to the gym in fits of jealous-fueled ambition. Should anyone need that dangling carrot for core strength inspiration, just see Koma's finale, a silver and black clingy top and long skirt on Gigi Hadid where the curves had curves.
