Ralph Lauren celebrated five decades in the fashion biz with a dazzling party, Oprah, Kanye, Kendall, a host of hot British actors and a collection that hit all of the brand's signatures. There were sweaters for ski weekends, velvet slip dresses, lace gowns, varsity knits, camel coats and patchwork—more often than not all worn together. It's a fashion lexicon so embedded in our psyches that sometimes it can be difficult to remember it all started with Ralph. It's a major moment for American fashion and a designer who helped shape it.
