Review Of Loewe Fall Winter 2021 Collection
The collection is a visual feast pumped up with saturated colours and stunning shapes.
'The Loewe Show Has Been Cancelled’ states the newspaper. For Fall Winter 2021, creative director Jonathan Anderson printed numerous copies of a mock broadsheet and sent them to guests all over the world. Other items in this press invitation include a charming tin box — or a ‘time capsule’ as Anderson calls it. The tin box also comes with a special paper knife to cut open an excerpt from best-selling author Danielle Steel’s new book, The Affair.

A special Loewe supplement is also included in several international newspapers such as Le Figaro and Le Monde (France), El Mundo (Spain), The Times (London), The New York Times (USA), and The Asahi Shimbun (Japan).

According to Anderson, this collection was inspired by the idea of ‘colour therapy’ to uplift us from lock-down fatigue. Coats, patchwork suits, and playful knits with faux naïf patterns come in bold colours of green, yellow, orange and blue. Anderson’s play on voluminous sleeves continues from his Spring Summer 2021 collection, with multi-coloured balloon-like sleeves on padded jackets. Other highlights include the giant tassels, not unlike those you see on heavy curtains in a manor house, that swing joyfully from the hems of jackets and pants, as well as masculine silhouettes inspired by the riding jacket from the 1920. Anderson also worked with the world’s biggest embroidery house to inject intricate beading into almost every design. Last but not least, the chunky moccasin boots with socks are simply to die for.
