Despite the unrest sprawled across Paris, nothing stops Couture Week and Alaïa from putting on an incredible show with edgy style and celebrity fanfare to boot.
Helmed by Pieter Milier, the Maison offered glimpses of the collection with subliminal yet intimate quotes that begin with the phrase "From (his/her) hands and his eyes," accompanied with hints of what one can expect from the silhouettes created by the treasured team of the atelier. Think "supple (armours) and infinite volumes," "custom-fitted and body-driven creations," "sculptural cuts and an unlimited repertoire of shapes."
It seems Milier's intention was to have this collection in the public eye. Guests were gifted a folding chair as an invitation, to sit on a footbridge across the Seine and take in the 360-degree views of Paris as well as the couture creations walking down the runway. The looks themselves were sexy, to say the least - liberal use of leather and latex gave this collection the kinky edge no one else has yet to claim this season. It seems to be the cousin of the naked, sheer dressing trend which has dominated runways and red carpets over the past few months.
