It was pouring on the morning of the show, and Ferragamo was set to present its collection in the courtyard of Portrait Milano—outdoors. Finally, about an hour or so before its stipulated start time, the sun came out, and it was glorious; befitting of the collection we were about to see.
It’s always exciting to see what Maximilian Davis brings to the table at Ferragamo, and this season was no different. His starting point? An archival image of American silent film star Lola Todd draped in leopard print. “I was interested in how certain materials, prints, and textiles were imported from across Africa and the Caribbean into America and Europe to become a sign of status,” said the Creative Director in his show notes of the inspiration behind the devoré leopard and stingray prints, fringe details, swishing leather, and extravagant embellishments.

While the collection was a look back at the era Ferragamo was founded, it was also a celebration of liberation and freedom of expression; a rebellion of sorts.
Oversized tailoring cinched at the hips with silk sashes that had tassels draped down to the ground, drop-waist slips with lace insets, laid-back suiting, and buttery-soft patent leather skirts in bright hues paired with earth-toned leather tops; to name a few examples. The play of colours went perfectly with the silhouettes where the clashes felt unexpected yet effortless: chartreuse, cobalt blue, citrus, gold—they all came together to express the vibrant mood.

Of course, accessories are always a key highlight at Ferragamo. Spring/summer 2026 saw Davis swapping the ‘F’ heel out for a sculptural ‘S’, which brings a subtle touch of sensuality—the same can be said of the removable ankle chains around the pointed-toe pumps.
The brand’s signature Hug bag was reimagined in patent leather, woven leather, and stamped croc—talk about extravagance. This touch of glamour can be styled seamlessly with a elegant frock as seen on the runway, or even to add that oomph to wardrobe staples.
There was a sense of ease, airiness and wearability to the collection, alongside glamour and elegance. This is one of Maximilian Davis’ best ones yet for the Italian luxury house.
