For their ongoing introspective SELF project, Saint Laurent has released a short film directed by Bret Easton Ellis, author of cult-classic novels American Psycho and Less Than Zero. This film is the third joint project creative director Anthony Vaccarello has created, following earlier partnerships with photographer Daido Moriyama and performance artist Vanessa Beecroft.
Known for his controversial and no-holds-barred commentary, Ellis siphons Saint Laurent’s enigmatic identity through his distinctive lenses to produce a film centered on a titillating love-triangle, following three young and beautiful characters (dressed head to toe in YSL, of course) on their journey through jealousy, love, and lust. With the captivating tones of “The Windmills of Your Mind” playing in the backdrop, the silent film explores the sensual side of Saint Laurent’s personality.
