Looks like it’s Sam Smith’s turn in the fashion spotlight.
After months of watching everyone from Ansel Elgort to Victor Cruz and Charlie Hunnam land ad campaigns with major brands, the British crooner announced on Wednesday that he was working on a special project with Balenciaga. Just last week, the world learned that that project was the French fashion house’s fall 2015 campaign, a moody black-and-white portfolio of images shot by Josh Olins. (Olins also shot a video of Smith in which he doesn’t even speak, much less sing.)
“I am absolutely honoured to have been chosen to be the face of Balenciaga,” he said in the press release. “I have been a devoted fan of the brand for a while now. I love how intimate it feels, and how involved Alexander has been and is with the brand. I never in my wildest dreams thought I’d be wearing these clothes let alone modelling them. So this is a dream come true, and I hope the beginning of a lovely long relationship with Alexander and the House.”
