Dakota Johnson Elevated Her '70s Look With A Very Modern Accessory

We love a denim-on-denim moment.

Dakota Johnson is leading the bell-bottoms revival, but with a modern twist.

Earlier this week, paparazzi captured the actress out and about in Los Angeles while dressed in an outfit reminiscent of the '70s. The retro denim-on-denim look included a denim chore jacket with a caramel brown collar, flared blue jeans in a lighter wash, a cozy cropped gray turtleneck sweater, and chunky heeled black boots. As for accessories, she kept the '70s theme going with a pair of amber-tinted aviator sunglasses, but it was her Gucci purse that caught our eye.

The black shoulder bag, with its shamrock green strap and embellishments of dozens of spiky silver studs, proved to be an effective, if not anachronistic detail to her otherwise nostalgic outfit.

Johnson is known for her cool and casual street style (though she also isn't above going all out on the red carpet—who could forget the backless crystal blazer dress she wore to last year's Tribeca Film Festival?). Most recently, the star turned heads at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival, where she wore yet another denim-on-denim look.

During the opening of the festival, Johnson looked fabulous in a Magda Butrym ensemble, consisting of billowing tapered jeans, a long denim coat, and a strapless denim corset.

In December 2021, she talked about her style in an interview.

"To go out into the world, do hair and make-up and wear an outfit to look a certain way, it's super jarring," she told ELLE UK. "So to wear clothes in which I feel like myself is vital. I feel like Ok this is a version of me."
