Laura Rakhman-Kidd rushes in for our shoot 10 minutes late. While in hair and makeup, she shows us a yellow faux fur hat from buzzy Brit label Emma Brewin, explaining: “I’m going to a rave party later.” For the free-spirited London-born, Irish-Indonesian model, “it’s easier to get an outfit together quickly if it feels like you’re dressing as a character.” Depending on her mood, Rakhman-Kidd’s style could be described as an eclectic mash-up: “I am a bit of a paradox. My style is whimsical and sensible; figure hugging and ill-fitting; hippie and punk; the list goes on. It’s forever changing.”

Her philosophy is reflected in the streets of London, the city she calls home: “There’s so much room to be an individual here. There’s loads of amazing music, food, style and art. There are so many different kinds of people and cultures that it doesn’t matter if you don’t fit in—there’s really nowhere to fit in to,” she quips.
