Tom Ford Is Returning To New York Fashion Week

Tom Ford is returning to the New York Fashion Week schedule in September.

The designer is making a return to the traditional fashion calendar after several seasons' hiatus. His last catwalk show was for autumn/winter 2015 in Los Angeles.

In February, the designer announced his plans to return to the schedule with a new "consumer-friendly" collection for autumn/winter 2016, with everything available to buy immediately. His contemporaries will be showing their spring/summer 2017 collections.

"In a world that has become increasingly immediate, the current way of showing a collection, four months before it is available to customers, is an antiquated idea and one that no longer makes sense. We have been living with a fashion calendar and system that is from another era," he said in a statement. "Our customers today want a collection that is immediately available. Fashion shows and the traditional fashion calendar as we know them no longer work in the way that they once did. We spend an enormous amount of money and energy to stage an event that creates excitement too far in advance of when the collection is available to the consumer. Showing the collection as it arrives in stores will remedy this, and allow the excitement that is created by a show or event to drive sales and satisfy our customers' increasing desire to have their clothes as they are ready to wear them."

Burberry will also begin its new model of showing clothing that will be immediately available to buy this season in September.

Ford's latest collection was spring 2016, which he showed in a music video starring Lady Gaga. Watch it and see all the looks below.
