"Welcome to Twinsburg." An eerie intro to a horror movie or the subject line of Gucci's Spring/Summer 2023 runway show invitation? As if 68 looks weren't enough, creative director Alessandro Michele doubled up on the fashion and drama with this collection, which ultimately ended up being one of his last showings for the brand. Michele, the son of an identical twin himself, took the high-profile opportunity to present some cheeky commentary on identity, solidarity and humanity.

The Hollywood glitz and glamour we've all come to expect from Michele, combined with country quilting and alien-like Gucci Gremlin bags, made this a swan song to remember. Gorgeous accessories - shoulder-dusting earrings and sunglasses dripping in chains, to name a few - obscured models' faces from view, making them look almost anonymous. And that's exactly what Michele was going for, driving home the idea that the similarities we all share overpower our differences in a world overcome by climate change, a volatile political climate and massive societal shifts in the way we think about ourselves and our identities.
