Adding to its already world-renowned luxury collections, the Valentino ACT Collection intentionally highlights short silhouettes while elevating each look with chunky boots or high heels. The collection includes a plethora of spectacular pieces, including flowing capes, super-short skirts, above-the-knee dresses, high-collared turtlenecks and stunning eveningwear in scintillating see-through fabric adorned with lace and sequins.

With a stark black-and-white canvas as a base, each piece is injected with only a mere whiff of colour and brought to life with nuances of fluorescent acrylics, checkered prints, animal prints and polka dots. While peacoats and jackets are transformed into capes, the pleated skirt is reimagined to reflect new proportions while the fluid evening dresses resemble flowing panels secured only by ribbons.

The idea is to “show off the body by uncovering or veiling parts of it, overlapping nets, lace, and intensely worked surfaces that reveal instead of hiding,” explains Pierpaolo Piccioli, who has been solo Creative Director of the Maison since 2016. 

It is not just women’s skirts that got a brutal cut, by the way. Unafraid to embrace the radical, even the men’s pants were not spared his daring—with Pierpaolo Piccioli taking his scissors to the trouser legs and cutting them above the ankle. 

“Working closely with the artisans and with the Italian expertise has been fundamental,” adds the Creative Director, who has demonstrated fearlessness in his unapologetic designs. “It has allowed me to understand and perceive the rules in order to break them and rewrite them.”
