Already an icon in its own right, the Versace medusa head logo is very much synonymous with a woman that exuded sensuality and one that is also bold in her fashion choices. Today, the Italian fashion house has launched a new Barocco-styled V motif as part of its newly created Virtus handbag line which debuted on the Fall/Winter 2019 runway.
The handbag line features a variety of silhouettes from fanny packs, top handle bags with V-pattern quilting, to the cross body model in various sizes. With a strong colour palette, expect neutral colours as well as some colour-blocked neon hues such as turquoise, fuchsia,coral red, all paired with Baroque-inspired materials. Versace has truly created a line that will become this season’s must-have everyday bag. In line with the brand’s over-the-top aesthetic, the bags come dressed with dangling charms, diamond studded apple cores, dogs and safety pins, showing a versatile mix of luxury and grunge.
Taking its name from the Roman deity, Virtus symbolizes strength, courage, character and is seen as a bold symbol of the Versace’s aesthetic heritage. The new V motif is sure to become a status symbol, one that will be as recognisable as the medusa head that we see today.
The Virtus bag line is available from September 2019.
