Victoria Beckham Shares The Key To Creating A Forever Wardrobe

Victoria Beckham makes the kind of clothes every well-dressed woman wants to wear. So it comes as no surprise that her brand's new collaboration with online retailer Mytheresa, available today, is chock-full of cozy staples you would come to expect from the brand.

"We wanted to create a collection that felt very seasonal, autumnal, whilst still celebrating our signature design codes: beautiful cuts, versatile separates, and bold pops of color," Beckham tells BAZAAR.com about the premise of the partnership. "We've worked with Mytheresa for a long time and wanted to celebrate that [relationship] with a special moment that felt right for us and them."

Pieces in the newly launched capsule include a little bit of everything. From fitted sweater dresses and silk satin coordinate sets to an oversized cardigan and knit separates, the lineup finds the common ground between comfort and style.

According to the designer, this has everything to do with the undeniable shift caused by the pandemic. "I think that the past 18 months have definitely influenced how we wear our clothes," she explains. "People want to be comfortable, to not have to overthink their outfits. But I also think there's a real desire to get dressed up again, to wear something structured that makes you feel confident. It's all about a balance of both, which I think this capsule really provides."

Those looking to build out the foundation of a capsule wardrobe will benefit from the offering as well, as Beckham is all about transcending seasons and fads. "[A] really great classic wool coat in camel or navy never fails," she says. "Invest in timeless pieces, a white shirt, great denim, a classic tuxedo jacket. Then gradually add in key statement pieces that you love. I always think the key to mastering a forever wardrobe is about choosing pieces you love that are true to your personal style, rather than following trends."
