Welcome To Balenciaga's Kim Kardashian Era

It's been a little more than seven months since Kim Kardashian started (almost) exclusively wearing Balenciaga. From her blacked-out ensemble at the Met Gala, to the larger-than-life looks she touted during her New York City SNL press junket, the Skims founder has been (not so subtly) dropping hints that a larger partnership with the luxury house could be in the works. The culmination of that dedication is a spring campaign starring the fashion mogul for the new season—engaged in taking a selfie, of course.

As a continuation of his celeb-focused vision for Spring 2022, it was announced on Tuesday afternoon that creative director Demna (he has dropped his last name) had officially tapped Kardashian for the second installment of Balenciaga's new ad and it speaks volumes. She's decked out in an all-black look with that's become quintessentially Kim. Lensed by photographer Stef Mitchell, the mom-of-four joins other famous friends of the brand featured on the series including French actress Isabelle Huppert and model Marie-Agnès Diene, in their natural habitats.

But the Parisian house took its infatuation with Kardashian to the next level, when it cleared its Instagram feed of any prior posts – leaving only one of Kardashian in the spring campaign behind. She's portrayed in her Calabasas home, wearing a range of key items from the collection, which include a neon iteration of the cult 'La Cagole bag' in one and the brand's signature cinched overcoat and 'Hourglass' hand bag of the same name, in another shot.
