As part of their longstanding collaboration, photographer Willy Vanderperre and creative director of Dior Homme Kris van Assche have joined forces once again to bring the elegance of the men’s luxury brand to life. Featuring American actor Boyd Holbrook, who starred in last year’s hit thriller Gone Girl, the film is set in Paris and follows the irrepressible actor as he goes about his day. It transports the glamour of the fall/winter 2015 collection into everyday settings and is brought to life with Holbrook’s charm and charisma.
One of the things that immediately struck us was the cinematic quality of the film that Vanderperre used in his approach. “We wanted somebody that we could explore the filmic idea with further, and it was Kris that suggested Boyd,” Vanderperre explained. “He plays the part of an American in Paris walking in different parts of the city, picks and preserves flowers as his memory of those places.” Paying homage to Gene Kelly and American films, the film is an insouciant trip through the modern era seen with a nostalgic eye.
