We’re Crazy in Love With Zendaya’s Beyoncé Tribute At The BET Awards

Law Roach dug up the Versace archives for this one.

Zendaya is bowing down to the queen.

The Euphoria star and Emmy winner attended the 2021 BET Awards wearing an archival Versace look that pays homage to the dress Beyoncé wore to the 2003 ceremony. While Bey's version was a mini dress with a pleated, ultra-high hem, Zendaya's has a flowy, maxi-length skirt with a daring leg slit. Both versions boast a rich purple hue, lime green accents, and revealing cutouts around the torso.

Z's longtime stylist and image architect, Law Roach, dug into the archives for this breezy frock from Versace's Spring/Summer 2003 collection. He showed off the outfit on Instagram this evening with a slow-motion video of Zendaya strutting in full glam.

Beyoncé wore the look 18 years ago for her first solo BET Awards performance, where she sang her breakout single, "Crazy in Love."

Though red carpet events were scarce in the past year (given the pandemic), that didn't get in the way of Zendaya and Roach's superb wardrobe choices. The actress wore a bright yellow Valentino gown and Bulgari jewels to the Oscars, a polka-dot Christopher John Rogers number to the virtual Emmys, and another breathtaking Valentino look to the Critics' Choice Awards.

"It's such a collaborative process, but I always get what I want in the end," Roach joked to BAZAAR.com in April about working with Zendaya. In all seriousness though, their years-long relationship is "filled with so much trust."

Roach added, "I like to joke and think that I'm the boss, but she's really the boss. She trusts me to bring her the things that I think are the best and that really suits her and really speaks to who she is as this fashion phenom."
