Colourful eyeshadow is spring/summer 2019's stand-out make-up trend. A rainbow of shades brightened up the fashion week catwalks, from hot pink painted in abstract shapes at Rodarte to washes of green at Marc Jacobs and bright baby blue at Erdem. The takeaway? Get playful with your palette, but stick to one hue.

Cementing a move away from contouring, bronzer was all over the runways, put it was placed along the models' cheekbones, not beneath them for a chiselled effect. Seventies-style sun-kissed skin was seen at Alberta Ferretti, Altuzarra and Molly Goddard in place of both blush and highlighter. Sweep it on.

Move over 'perfect' Instagram brows, virgin brows are back and they're bushy, raw and real. While tweezers need not apply, that's not to say these brows aren't groomed. At Proenza Schouler, Mansur Gavriel and Christopher Kane models' brows were brushed up for eye-opening effect.

Sparkling eye make-up in sharp shapes made for the ultimate festival inspiration on the catwalks. At Valentino make-up artist Pat McGrath hand-applied Swarovski crystals to models' eyelids, while at Halpern, Isamaya Ffrench foiled eyelids with layers of glitter, framed with semi-circles of black liner. For a more wearable take on the trend look to Versace, where models wore wings of coloured liner with a metallic sheen.

'No make-up' make-up is a fashion week fixture, and when eyes were pared back this season, skin was highly polished. Models at Alexa Chung had a hyper-real glow, and at Victoria Beckham the minimal beauty look had maximum radiance while Pamella Roland's models looked effortlessly fresh-faced.

On the spring/summer catwalks, statement lips came in either rich power shades or happy brights. Chanel stole the show with an intense raspberry red, worn with fresh skin and lashings of black mascara. Chloé gave good evening inspiration, with a creamy burgundy lip and at Burberry a true power red was modelled against otherwise 'no make-up' make-up.

It may or may not be the Meghan effect, but freckles were celebrated at shows including Roland Mouret, GCDS, Ryan Lo and Preen, where make-up artist Val Garland gave all models faux freckles on top of fresh skin.
