While architecture is not typically associated with fashion, there is an irrefutable correlation between the two fields: they both stem from creative concepts, place emphasis on shape, proportion, colour and textures, and are based on assembly.

As the worlds of architecture and fashion increasingly collide and overlap, novel creations have surfaced throughout brands and runways. Here, 9 times architecture influenced fashion.

An artist in her own right, Iris Van Herpen is known for her enigmatic, sculptural forms and fabric wizardry. In 2015, as part of her 'Magnetic Motion' collection, she collaborated with architect Niccolo Casas and 3D Systems to print a crystalline ‘ice’ dress, which embodied a delicate refinement and translucent quality.

This special edition of the Nike Air Max 1 designed by Tinker Hatfield was inspired by the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris.As a tribute to the iconic building designed by architects Renzo Piano and Richard Rogers, the sneakers feature its colorful, structural tubes along the seams of the fabric, as well as on the soles.
