“Finding couture in the everyday” was the message of the Cecilie Bahnsen show at Paris Fashion Week. Not to be worn for just for the evening soiree, but rather pared-down with sneakers and socks – according to the Scandi girl manual – the signature puffer dresses are seen stripped of their naivety and cheekily worn off shoulder; crêpe de chine lavishly layered in pastel colours and Nordic-core black and white. All was rendered in exquisitely voluminous silhouettes.
Walking the line between high craftsmanship and simplicity, the hyperfeminine codes of the maison meet new basic silhouettes: jeans and t-shirts debut in the Cecilie Bahnsen collection, featuring embroidered floral motifs, garnished with weightless veils.
Meringue-like gowns meet trekking shoes, frou-frou meets utilitarianism and cottagecore meets gorpcore: these juxtapositions are quintessentially Scandi.
