For Dior Men’s summer 2023 collection, artistic director Kim Jones cleverly brings together the histories of the house of Dior and Bloomsbury Group’s artist Duncan Grant. From Normandy and Granville — Monsieur Christian Dior’s birthplace and home of his legendary garden — to the countryside of Sussex and Charleston, England, residence of Grant, this collection is all about linking the past with the present and future of the house.
“Granville and Sussex have a similar climate; the weather, the light and the garden tie one place to the other. For both Christian Dior and Duncan Grant, their homes, their gardens and their private environments were so important for their creativity. It was these meaningful, private spheres that were translated into their work and became public. Here, we are mixing the utilitarian, natural and gardening elements with stylised, luxurious, new look facets and Duncan Grant artworks in the collection — the private and the public together, There is an idea of the passage of time, the changing weather and light of the seasons, as well as continuity, artistic communities and the legacy of the House of Dior,” says Jones.

For this collection, Jones embraces the great outdoors, mixing the house’s iconic grey with a summery palette of pinks and pastels, greens and blues. The offering on display includes luxed-up hats, double-layer shorts, camp-jackets, cosy sweaters as well as as assortment of wellies, all a nod to Jone’s love for nature.
