Where do we even start with this week’s episode recap? First of all, this week’s challenge was a BIG deal. Instead of having a separate challenge and photo shoot as usual, the stakes were raised this week by combining both elements into a mega-challenge.

As the girls pulled themselves together after Tuti’s abrupt departure from the previous week, Cindy and Kelly swooped in to take them for a runway walk masterclass.

With only five girls left in the competition, everyone was bringing their A-Game to the table, but Patricia quickly set herself up as the one to beat this week with her walk that was just full of attitude. Angie needed more practice, as did Julian, while Tawan also impressed the judges with her walk.

With the stakes raised this week, the prize was raised accordingly too. Cindy revealed that the winner of the this week’s mega-challenge would headline the TRESemmé Runway Ready Show 2016 in the Philippines. Well, the girls were faced with a deadly combo: They had to walk the runway in their absolutely fabulous black-and-gold gowns and strike a pose at the end of the runway with TRESemmé icon Jing Monis.
Angie took to the runway first, but her lacklustre performance on the runway and in ability to capture her best angles left the judges unimpressed. In comparison, Tawan and Patricia thrilled the judges with their stunning stage presence and ability to work the camera and sell the product they were promoting. Julian got rave reviews and was praised by the panel for her marked improvement from the runway masterclass, but this was disrupted by Sang In’s quick trip halfway down the runway (but thankfully managed to recover in time).
At the elimination, AsNTM Season 3 host Georgina Wilson joined Cindy, Kelly and Yu Tsai on stage for the first time and boy, did tensions run high! For most of the deliberation process, the three female judges were firmly aligned while Yu Tsai was on the other side of the fence. Their most heated argument? Tawan’s photo was a sore spot as Yu Tsai felt turning her back made the photo less inviting while Cindy, Kelly and Georgina were all for the sexy back. But the one thing they all agreed on was that Julian was undoubtedly the star of the night, both for her improvement on the runway and her brilliant attitude in her photo. For that, she took home her first challenge winner title ever and won the coveted prize. Unfortunately, Angie and Sang In didn’t fare so well and ended up in the bottom two. Ultimately, Angie was the one who got sent packing as the judges felt that she could have put more effort into her challenge this week.
And with that, we’re now down to our Final Four: Tawan, Patricia, Julian and Sang In! Stay tuned for next week’s episode, where the girls get their first Harper’s BAZAAR Singapore cover, shot by Yu Tsai and styled by Kenneth and Windy!
Best moment: When Julian realised that she was the winner of this week’s mega-challenge. Priceless.
Worst moment: When the three female judges ganged up on Yu Tsai. Again. Why does this keep happening?
Challenge winner this week: Julian from the Philippines! This marked her first win of the competition and she’ll be fronting TRESemmé Runway Ready Show 2016 in her home country.
Who got kicked off: Angie from Singapore. Bye, girl.
